A Arizona Rat Breeder, Rattie & Mattie's Rattery

Hello...
My Name is Amanda Lacy.
I was Born September 4th, 1985. I've had Animals since I was 8 months old. And have always loved them since.
I have been Owning and breeding rats since 1998. Since then I've done a lot of research on Health, Genetics, and Basic rat care. I've compared wild rat habitats to pet rat habitats, and tried to give them the best of both worlds, so they develope as sweet well adjusted happy rats.

Rats MUST be adopted in pairs, I will not adopted out a rat alone unless you can prove that you already own a rat. Rats are Very social creatures and need a companion while you are at School/Work, or a way for they day, and they really like a snuggling buddy when they sleep.

I ask that a nontoxic bedding be used such as Crittercare, CareFresh or Aspen. Litters such as Cedar and Pine are highly toxic to a small animals fragile respiratory System. They can cause lung damage such Flaring up Mycoplasma, liver damage, and decreased immune response, which can lead to decreasing our time with our rats.

I also ask that if the rat is injured or sick that it be seen by a vet.
All Good caring breeders agree on those three requirements- (adopt in pairs, safe bedding, and veterinary care). Also when pet rats are going to children under 18 years of age, it's still the parent's responsibility to see to the rats welfare. That the rats are taken out for playtime every day, have fresh water, food, clean bedding, and veterinary care if needed.

I Carefully match up which Parents will bring out the Healthiest, Best tempered, and Lastly *always last* Beautiful Babies. If the parents are healthy (and healthy genes) and both sweet tempered then I will go by who will bring out the best looking babies.
Health, Temperament, and Longevity are #1 in this Rattery.

We Feed our Rats a Multitude of food.
For our main diet we feed them:
Canidae All Life Stages Dog Food,
Fiesta Rat And Mouse Food,
As Well as Camarattery's old Grain Diet *post below*
As well as Lab Blocks.

Our moms get the same mix as above but with a few extra things added in to give them more nutrients:
Purina One Kitten Food, to add in some extra Nutrients for them and the babies.

This Mixture gives them every thing they need, and they really seem to like it,over our other tried mixes. It also gives them Lots of variety. Along with this mix they also get fresh, Dried, and Frozen Fruits and Veggies, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Along with some Leftovers from our dinners on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Saturdays get a different treat.

And almost on a Daily Basis they get what ever we had for lunch, which can vary from Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches to Teryaki Chicken with Rice.

AMy's old Grain Diet:
flaked barley
sun flower seeds
good natural dog food (for some protein and vitamins)
oat groats or rolled oats/race horse oats.
Calf Manna. Vitamins and protein.
raw peanuts (either in the shell or out of the shell)
Optional: A pinch of raw pumpkin seeds daily. Around 4 seeds per rat. This is a good treat food.

I Really recommend wire cages for better ventilation over aquariums. Cages like these make it easy to hang hammocks and Toys, and your rats can better interact with you through the cage bars. I love all my Rats and want to see them go to good, caring homes. To someone who will love and spoil them as much as I do if not more.

If you can no longer keep your rat(s) from RAMR then you MUST contact me and let me know and I will take them back. If I find out that you could longer keep them and did not contact me, I will fine you with a minimum 200 dollars, Because I really DO care about knowing what happens to my babies, I like to know where they are, their health and how happy they are.

My Ratties get several hours of "out" time a day. During their "Out time" the rats get toys and Treats. Plus nails trimmed and other Daily groomings. Each rat also gets their own Personal out time to ensure they get the attention they need. Where they can crawl around on my or the couch next to me.
